Compare for yourself for any pair of locations in Delhi-NCR.

But thanks to Google, global markets are opening up to this age-old concept now. Indeed, we have started receiving interest in our technology from markets that were foreign to us till now.

Cheers,
Avinash
Co-founder, CEO, RouteGuru
(Avinash at RouteGuru dot com)

Re: DRM disappears, my money quickly follows

Burning and re-ripping was a serious pain, AND you lose audio quality
when you convert to a .wav and then reconvert to .mp3. I am curious to
see who can crack the code first on all-you-can-eat always-on
streaming service - that would be a similar quality-of-life
improvement like the removal of DRM. I wish Apple had bought Spotify
instead of LaLa -- hope they will do something great with it though.

Re: You’re in high school again (Nirvana)

Totally - I remember we were right up there near them when they played.

Re: DRM disappears, my money quickly follows

I have to agree - DRM-free has been a blessing. I was always too lazy to look elsewhere, so purchased quite a bit of DRM music through iTunes. I would download, burn a CD, erase it from my iTunes and then load it from the CD in order to circumvent the DRM - but that was a pain. And as you pointed out, most of my friends would not go to that effort, so I could never play their files.

Re: You’re in high school again (Nirvana)

Thanks for bringing back the memories...although I don't remember it being as crazy as it sounds in the article. I wonder if there are or could be more specialized tools if the animanifesto form becomes more codified.

Like iClone or Animeeple for machinima. I guess you have to draw a distinction between integrating support for data (Alpha/Rosling-style, which Trillions does not delve into deeply though it does rely on some light info visualization) -- and just enabling new expositional forms (which would be more like Prezi - the zooming, rotating, text-focused PowerPoint alternative).

Although there is an argument that general tools are all you need to create animanifestos in the same way you don't need a specialized word processor to write a short story (leaving aside Scrivener etc. and screenwriting for the timebeing). In this line of thinking, there is a fairly finite set of functions - easy animation creation/control, integration/visualization of external data sources, image manipulation, basic video editing, for example, that like Snarkmarket's New Liberal Arts, constitute a New Office Suite.

Re: Animanifesto: a burst of explanatory video

The animation could probably be done in After Effects, or Flash really, but either one would be a pain in the ass. It's probably a more specific tool. I've seen some really complicated stuff done just in post software like AE though.

Re: Animanifesto: a burst of explanatory video

interesting little video. rather simplifying the way of the future but still interesting. too much information isn't the issue. and talking about an information age isn't the issue. sure, these are all interesting things and will be issues. but i think the future complexity will be far beyond "information"

it would be nice to have a simplified tool that would allow us to create these videos from data streams. the trendalyzer is fascinating but doesn't let you produce little informational animanifestos. now, if this animanifesto were able to change based on the inputs...

Re: Found footage, surreal siren

Haha - I can imagine equal numbers of each!

Re: Found footage, surreal siren

Fly across the country to see it or avoid it?

Re: You’re in high school again (Nirvana)

I think it was a few months later that I went in to a record store, Rhino Records in Claremont, CA and was blown away by the music they were playing on the loudspeakers. Normally, the music in a record store is something you know or couldn't care less about. Not that day. A shy kid, I forced myself to go up to the counter and ask the hip college kid working there to tell me what this amazing music was. Turned out to be the Nevermind album which I bought on the spot. This was a few months before they broke big on MTV. For a suburban southern California youth the music was a jolt through the very core of my existence. That album and Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger defined middle school for me. Took me somewhere safe from New Kids on the Block and the bubblegum pop that surrounded me. I always wished I'd lived in Seattle at that time. As you can guess, I'm jealous that you got to go to this show.

Re: Albatross Albatross Albatross

and now the album is on sale at amazon for $5 (http://bit.ly/I0WRc)

Re: The Future is Big in the Present

Pretty good post. I'm also curious to see if the VC model is adapted to other industries absent more tech innovation. that said i recently listened to a podcast by Tom Friedman where he argues -- at length -- that most businesses haven't yet begun to truly shape their business models around the transistor (he mentions e-checkin systems as a notable start)
according to friedman an entire tech-based transformation of the world economy is still ahead of us, similar to the transformation that occurred after the ready availability of electricity. if that holds true, i'll be surprised if the VC industry doesn't find a role to play...

Re: You will never make Astral Weeks

Of course I have this album in the flesh.
